When an outage hits or a user reports “it froze,” you don’t guess—you press play. Highlight gives engineers a direct view of what actually happened in the browser so fixes move faster and with fewer back-and-forths. Set it up in minutes: choose your front‑end stack (React, Vue, Next.js, Svelte, and more), install the SDK via npm or yarn, add a few lines after your app initializes, and deploy. Configure environments, sampling rules, and privacy controls so sensitive fields stay masked. Connect source maps for readable stack traces. Optionally tag sessions with user traits and custom events. Lock access down with roles and SSO. From then on, errors and user journeys you allow are captured with clicks, inputs, route changes, and key performance timings.

Start triage from anywhere—a support ticket, an alert, or a teammate’s link. Open the replay timeline and jump straight to the moment the problem started. Scrub through the session frame by frame, or skip idle time to the next significant action. Use the built‑in network panel to inspect requests and responses: payloads, headers, status codes, and timings are all there; copy a cURL if you need to replay locally. Console logs are preserved alongside mapped stack traces, so you see both what the user saw and what the code did. Leave a timestamped comment, mention a teammate, and assign ownership to support, product, or engineering without context switching. Attach the replay URL to your tracker so anyone can reproduce by watching, not guessing. more

How It’s Used

  • Triage a production bug from a support ticket by opening the exact replay
  • Investigate a browser‑specific crash using stack traces and console logs
  • Diagnose slow API calls or CORS failures via the network viewer and cURL export
  • Validate a new feature rollout by watching first‑run sessions and checking events
  • Run QA smoke tests in staging and attach precise evidence to issues
  • Track regressions after a release by filtering sessions by version and error type
  • Prioritize UX fixes by reviewing rage clicks and dead‑end user paths
  • Correlate frontend errors with backend incidents using request IDs
